…Will come one day.

In the mean time, go over and play Meqanic reborn on the web: https://meqanic.com/web/

And enjoy these old pictures and clippings I found on my hard drive.

The original Meqanic app icon: red and blue squares with the letters E, Q and M The original icon for the Meqanic app.

Title screen reading Weird. For testing purposes only, beta software v0. The original name for Meqanic was “Weird” (file says June 2013).

Way back when, still a PostDoc, I began outlining a children’s book on quantum physics. And – in a way – I’m finally close to finishing it. The twist is that I didn’t actually write the book I had wanted to. Something intervened.

The iPhone came out. And then the iPad.

The book turned into an app turned into a game. It is a puzzle game, sort of, like Tetris or Sodoku. The game in no way mentions or refers to quantum. The casual user would never know. It’s just a game that people (I hope) will just want to play. I call it “gorilla education”. I’m really not sure yet if it will teach anything to anyone – or if the game is even any good – but the only way to know is to experiment.

The goal of the game is straight-forward: make the current view match the target view by adding blocks to wires. The way it’s shown in the game – the “views” – are via what I call a P-matrix (see, e.g., New J. Phys. 14 053028 (2012)). The way to visualize an (exponentially growing) quantum state has been another bit of (failed) side research of mine.
