I have always wanted to build a museum exhibit to enable people to go “inside” a quantum computer. I talked about it first in “A Quantum Wish” when I was at OSTP: https://www.quantum.gov/a-quantum-wish/. When I left the government I had the great fortune to start working with Myungin Lee and his team at the University of Maryland to realize a VR experience of the concept (more on that here: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/tahan_on-the-west-coast-its-still-world-quantum-activity-7317802742008197121-tpYG (copy on this site) ).

But I want to test ideas out faster. So when every new AI model or tool comes out, I try to make a poor man’s 2D visualizer of what I want. I was amazed the first time; I’m amazed with each new release. However, I could get far, but not far enough before the house of cards of errors was impossible to fix - or at least not worth the time.

With this most recent generation of models (Opus 4.5, Codex 5.2, Gemini 3), my experiences are different. It is the first time I can get far enough. With these models not only do they get what I want basically completely right the first time, but I feel like I can keep going forever.

// This is what computers were always meant to be.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve come up with so far. It’s ALL vibe coded. Everything, even the docs. In fact, I spent more time trying to get my old personal site working again with https, etc, than on this. I would not assume it’s all accurate. But man, it is fun. Merry Christmas!
